Therapeutic ultrasound is a noninvasive treatment that uses low-power ultrasound waves (essentially mechanical energy) to create vibrations – in turn transferring heat and energy into the targeted area.  This can provide both pain relief and loosen tight muscles. Ultrasound is very effective for conditions affecting the ligaments (CCL rupture, patella luxation and hip dysplasia), tendons (tendonitis) , and joint capsules. It’s effective depth is up to 5cm into the tissue, making it especially efficacious when used in conjunction with physiotherapy treatment.
